At Surf.Physio, we're all about getting your body in the best condition it can be, so you can catch more waves. That's it. 

Below is information about how payments work, and common questions we get around private health insurance.

How do Payments work at Surf Physio?

We have a super efficient system  where you will receive an SMS after your consult with a link to claim any private health rebates and pay your gap fee. This enables you to use Google Pay and Apple Pay, and your private health details can be saved, so follow payments take around 10 seconds to complete.

Can I USE My PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE For Surf Physio & SUrf Massage?

If you have private health insurance with physio or massage covered under your extras cover, you'll be able to claim rebates for you consultations.

For Physiotherapy, the applicable codes are 500 and 505.

For Remedial Massage, that applicable codes are 105 and 205. 

You'll be able to claim by sending your receipt to your fund, or via our SMS payment system after you consult. If you're unsure, please contact your fund for clarification to see that you're covered.

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN A CONSULTATION AT SURF PHYSIO?

When you see one of our physiotherapists and massage therapists, expect to receive the following inclusions, at NO EXTRA fee to you. It's all part of the service:

Inclusions (where your condition requires it):

• A Welcoming Smile - always!
• Hand's on Treatment - always for massage, and mostly for physio- depending on your condition
• Exercise Rehabilitation and Strengthening plan -just about always!
• Taping - as required
• Dry Needling - as required
• A tailored treatment plan- always!

A Referral is generally NOT required for Physiotherapy or Remedial Massage services. 

• We're happy to treat everyone who needs our support, though we don't bill or invoice for any Workcover, TAC or DVA sessions. If you're covered under these schemes, you can still come and see us, though you will be paying as a private client, at our usual private fee. If you're covered under one of these schemes, and live in in Melbourne,  the team at Melbourne Sports Physiotherapy can assist you.

• Our Physio team can assist you if you are covered by a Medicare Chronic Disease Management (CDM/EPC) plan via your GP, and your referral is current. Contact your GP for more information on this, or view this blog on the topic from the Melbourne Sports Physio team.

• We service all private health funds (BUPA, Medibank, HCF, HBA, NIB, AHF, etc.)
• We know your time is precious, and so is ours. If you fail to attend an appointment or give notice of your non-attendance on the day of your consultation, a cancellation fee of 100% will be charged to your account.
• We are a very popular clinic and have people waiting for appointments, so we appreciate a phone call if you are unable to attend or if you are running late to your appointment.

WE ARE NOT PREFERRED PROVIDERS.

Preferred provider schemes sound great in theory, but really just benefit the insurance companies. These deals really stifle small health providers.

We have been very strict and strong in our view that we will not join any preferred provider schemes, unless they benefit you (such as the HCF more for muscles program).

Whilst preferred provider schemes seem like a great idea, they usually just mean the service provider (the physio clinic) has adjusted their fee schedule to adhere to the big insurers demands - ie the clinic charges very low fees, which can't support them to have great clinicians on the team.

This often results in a reduction of the time of your consultation, and sometimes the quality of care is reduced. We value the quality of care,  and it goes against our core values to be part of these preferred provider schemes.

Yes, it looks like you pay less out of pocket at the first initial visit, though it doesn't change the overall pool of funds allocated to you for the year, you just  use it up quicker!
